NEW DATE: CARES Act Provider Relief Fund Deadline to Apply Extended to September 13

Maryland Medicaid providers are encouraged to apply by the September 13 deadline even if they are uncertain if they are eligible.

​Public Health Emergency Renewed Effective July 25, 2020

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services renews for a second time the public health emergency as a result of the continued consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.  For more information see Renewal of Determination That a Public Health Emergency Exists​ published July 23, 2020. COVID-19 Federal Provider Relief Payments Available​​

On June 9, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) announced the distribution of $15 billion in additional relief funds to eligible Medicaid and CHIP providers. Funds will be available to providers who have not received a payment from the Provider Relief Fund General Allocation under the CARES Act

HHS is overseeing all provider applications and fund distributions. Providers must apply using the HHS Provider Relief Fund Portal.  More information about eligibility and the application process is available at https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/cares-act-provider-relief-fund/general-information/index.html.

New ICD-10-CM Code for COVID-19​
The Maryland Department (MDH) will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for the new ICD-10-CM​ code for COVID-19. Pay attention to the beginning, effective and end dates.​
When billing the Diagnosis Code to MDH, use CAPITAL alpha characters, and do not include a decimal point.​
