TIme to Request a Fair Hearing Extended

Maryland Medicaid has extended the time for Medicaid participants and applicants to ask for a fair hearing. As of March 12, 2020, you now have 30 days after the state of emergency ends to file for your fair hearing. 

Change to the Medicaid HealthChoice Helpline

Due to the state of emergency, the Maryland Medicaid HealthChoice Helpline is moving to email until further notice. For help, email Include your name, a number where we can reach you, and briefly tell us how we can help you. HealthChoice Helpline staff will call you. "No caller ID" may show when we call. Please answer. We must call you and cannot answer your email. This email is only for the Medicaid HealthChoice Helpline.​

Department of Social Services (DSS) Offices Closed to the Public

All Department of Social Services (DSS) offices closed to the public on March 18, 2020. You can still get services online at​ or by calling 1-800-332-6347.

​Medicaid Renewals Due March 31 Now Extended

If you are due to renew your Medicaid coverage by March 31, Maryland Medical Assistance is extending your renewal until April 30, 2020. Medicaid will not cancel your coverage during this time. The renewal date may change again due to the current state of emergency. Check this page for updates.

Section 1135 Waiver Requests to Assist Healthcare Providers in Responding to COVID-19 

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) sent an 1135 waiver application to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on March 20, 2020. The State can submit additional amendments to the 1135 waiver to address the COVID-19 outbreak. MDH expects to ask for more changes as needed to continue operations during this state of emergency. Check back for updates to this waiver.
